Goldby Architects is an architecture and interior design practice based in Melbourne, working across Australia and England. We specialise in bespoke residential projects, including new builds, renovations and additions.

As a progressive practice, we utilise the latest BIM software to develop highly resolved 3D models for every project. This allows clients to fully visualise each space through immersive internal and external walkthroughs, bringing clarity and confidence to the design process. Our in-house rendering capability further supports this approach, helping clients understand and refine their vision while saving time throughout the life of the project.
Our design direction is guided by refined simplicity, material sensitivity and open communication. Working alongside a trusted network of consultants and industry professionals, we provide expert guidance across all stages of the process to ensure a seamless and highly resolved result.

Sam Goldby

Sam is a registered Architect in Australia and founded Goldby Architects in 2022, following his role as Design Director at Rob Mills Architecture & Interiors, one of Australia’s most highly regarded residential practices. Prior to establishing the studio, he worked across Europe and Australia with some of the world’s most esteemed architectural firms, including Renzo Piano Building Workshop in Paris and AHMM in London. These experiences have shaped his rigorous design approach and commitment to both technical excellence and refined architectural outcomes.
Sam graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Masters of Architecture (First Class Honours), and in 2013 was awarded the Sheppard Robson Sustainability Prize for his thesis. He later completed his professional registration in Melbourne.
Katie Goldby
BA (Hons) Architecture, Master of Architecture (MArch)

Katie trained and registered as an Architect in the UK, and is a dual citizen of both the UK and Australia. Prior to becoming a Director of Goldby Architects, Katie was an Associate at one of Melbourne’s most notable young practices, Cera Stribley, bringing a wealth of local knowledge and expertise in the high-end residential and hospitality sectors. Prior to this, Katie started her career in some of London’s most prestigious studios, including Michaelis Boyd Associates and Wilkinson Eyre, where her passion for exceptional design and interiors were honed.
Katie graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Masters of Architecture (First Class Honours), and completed her professional registration at the London Metropolitan University. She was awarded the Charles Reilly Medal for Design and was shortlisted for the prestigious RIBA Presidents Medal in 2013.
